From Hayrides to Hot Cider: A Guide to All Things Fall

Fall is officially here, and I could not be more happy about it.

Autumn is by far my favorite season. I love the crisp air in the mornings, the knitted sweaters and boots that had been packed away all summer come out to play, seasonal drinks from Starbucks come back to grace us, and the leaves on the trees start changing colors.

Discover the delights of autumn with this guide highlighting all the things I look forward to in the season.

  1. Put out pumpkin decor

Oh my gourd, it just doesn’t get cuter (or cozier) than pumpkin décor in the home. I love buying a few mini pumpkins, in ivory and orange, from Trader Joe’s to decorate around the candles I already have. This is a budget friendly way to decorate around the home.

Target also has some really cute pieces for Harvest decor, including some knitted pumpkins, and twinkly lights.

  2. Put on Cozy pajamas and fuzzy socks

There isn’t a better feeling than taking a hot shower and jumping in some cozy pajamas, along with some fuzzy socks. My favorite fuzzy socks have to be the Butter Crew Socks from Nordstrom. I received them as a gift from my mother-in-law and the fuzziness lasts so long!

As for cozy pajamas and lounge wear, I have been living in these cream leopard print joggers paired with its matching cream leopard print quarter-zip from Old Navy. I sized up in the quarter-zip for ultimate coziness!

  3. Burn my favorite fall candle

Bath and Body Works has the best, budget friendly candles. I recently splurged on a $100 worth of products because they had the best sale for three-wick candles, wallflowers and wax melts. Since Fall was almost here, it was a must! I was able to stock up on some of my favorite Fall candles.

My favorite candle for the past two years is, hands down, the Cinnamon Spiced Vanilla scented candle. Since it is cut with cinnamon spice, it is not too sweet like some of the other Fall candles. But let’s be real, this is a year round candle for me. Leaves is another really good smelling candle option!

  4. Visit a sunflower field

I feel like sunflowers embody Fall. Early September, I visited a sunflower field with my best friend and her mom. It was super fun because you ride hay-filled tractor over to the sunflower fields.

I helped my best friend build out her photography portfolio by “modeling” in the sunflower fields. The farm we went to had vases available to purchase, then you can pick as many sunflowers as you can and bring them home. This whole experience really got me excited for the season.

  5. Make my way to a pumpkin patch + Corn Maze

There are so many cute Farms to visit in the Pacific Northwest. I am a big fan of the ones that have a pumpkin patches and a corn maze, anything else is a bonus. My favorite farm to visit in the Fall season would have to be Craven Farm. They have a pumpkin patch, a hay ride and a15-acre corn maze. They also have apple slinging where you put some apples in a slingshot and aim at the different targets.

As for food, they have all the yummy treats you could want while partaking in the different activities. Hello, kettle corn and apple cider pumpkin donuts.

  6. Carve a pumpkin

This is something I’d save for later in October. It’s fun to find the perfect pumpkin and carve it while watching your favorite scary movie. You can even hold a friendly competition for the best pumpkin carving.

  7. go for a walk and look at the leaves

I love the early mornings in Fall. I can’t wait for my husband and me to take my puppy out for a walk in the brisk weather, with a hot drink in hand. Although, Winnie (our dog) may pick up every leaf she finds on the ground. Stay tuned on that one.

  8. Read a book

A rainy day with some cozy clothes on and fall candles burning with hot drink in hand litereally screams read a book to me. There’s something extra comforting about getting lost in a novel when you don’t want to go outside.

I am currently reading, “To All The Boys I Loved Before,” which is a sweet, teen, romance book.

  9. Make hot cocoa or apple cider

Pumpkin Spice Lattes are cool and all, but have you ever had spiked hot cocoa or apple cider? If not, I would highly recommend these two adult beverages. Even if you don’t care for the alchohol aspect of this beverage, it is nostalgic drinking hot cocoa filled with a million mini marshmallows.

  10. Bake

I haven’t always been baker. Last year, I got super into baking different sweet treats and sharing them with my family and friends. I think it’s because I acquired a lot of baking-type gifts during my bridal shower.

My family doesn’t have a recipe book filled with family recipes that has been passed down for generations. I usually opt to follow different recipes from my favorite celebs or Pinterest, and let the sweet, sugary smell engulf my home. I love to make Joanna Gaines’ famous chocolate chip cookies, JIF peanut butter cookies and Chrissy Teigen’s famous banana bread. I even made an apple pie for my family on Thanksgiving last year. You can call me Snow White now. But in all seriousness, this season reminds me of how special it is to make something from scratch and to share it with others.

I hope this article reminds you of the things you love to do during this season, whether it was a tradition you had growing up or is something you want to implement in your life now!
